What is Traffic Exchange?

I love traffic exchange much more than other free advertising services. So, I start Traffic Driven blog on it.

The term “Traffic Exchange” has said something but I think some of you don’t know exactly how traffic exchange sites works.

At the moment there are lots sites with this service. They are both automatic and manual traffic exchange. As manual traffic exchange have far better performance and create high exposure, I focus on it and consider it one of the best free advertising services.

The concept of manual traffic exchange is very simple: “you visit my site and I visit yours”.

To be familiar with traffic exchange sites, you should join one site and navigate around to see how it works. Most of manual traffic exchange sites have same features and functions. Here are some important terms you should understand in manual traffic exchange.

Surf Bar: is a frame locating on top or bottom of browser window when you surf others’ sites. It is used to display anti-cheat capcha/ images, time countdown, user account information (such as username, credits and menu). Each traffic exchange site has different surf bar, particularly the anti-cheat system.

Timer: every time you surf a site, there is a countdown on surf bar indicating the time you have to stay at that site before you browse to another site. In the past few years, 30 seconds timer is very popular but because of improvements in internet connection recently, most sites use timer ranging from 6 seconds to 20 seconds. According to many researches, the first 6 seconds is enough to attract website visitors.

Traffic credit: is a common unit used in traffic exchange and free advertising services. In most cases, one traffic credit is equal to 1 visitor to your site. Banner and text credit are two other terms with similar meanings but applicable for banner and text advertising.

Surfing ratio: means the number of sites you have to surf to gain one visitor to your site. For example, if the surfing ratio is 2:1, for every 2 sites you surf, you earn one traffic credit. At the moment, traffic exchange sites have various surfing ratio, from 5:1 to 1:1. If you upgrade your membership, your surfing ratio may also be increased to 1:1.5 or 1:2.

Splash page: is a single web page, which is well-designed and contains brief info for programs/ sites/ services you want to advertise. It’s like a print ad, trailer or TVC.

There are some other things you should learn on traffic exchange. The best way is to use it, become familiar with it, and then make the most of it.

That’s one of the best ways to increase traffic to your sites and generate profit for FREE.
